Young Stars Shine Brightly at Ajax LC Invitational

The Ajax Aquatic Club's young guns were firing at the recent Ajax Long Course Invitational swim meet held at the University of Toronto on May 28-30.

The meet featured over 650 athletes from various teams around southern Ontario, including large clubs like Markham, Oakville and Mississauga.


11 year old Ethan Harrison continued his rapid rise through the club's squads, qualifying for his first Junior Provincial Championship in the 100m Butterfly. Harrison also....

Fellow 11 year old Mark Burns added the 100FR, 200FR and 400FR to his list of Provincial times. Emily Vandenberg, also 11, added a few more to her list as well, qualifying in the 200IM, 200BK, 400FR and 400IM.

Joining Harrison as a newly promoted member of the Provincial Squad was Daniel Wilson, achieving his first Junior Provincial qualifying time in the 200IM. WIlson also added best times in 100% of his swims.

Alexander Gilchrist added the 100m Butterfly to his list of Junior Provincial events, and also reached the Top 5 three times, highlighted by a nearly 60 second drop in the 400IM.

12 year old Ryan Kelly took home 3 Gold medals over the the course of the weekend, and reached the podium in 2 other swims. Joining him on the podium was Aryanna Fernandes, who brought home 5 Gold Medals in the 10&Under Category, including an impressive new Club Record in the 400IM, smashing the previous mark by nearly 40 seconds!

Also performing 100% best times were: Matthew Cummings, Matthew Fernandes, Matthew Harris and Amanda Martin.
