AAC's young guns were blazing at the 2010 Markham Invitational
this past weekend, and were lead by 10 year old Mark Burns. Along
with his teammates in the 11&Under Boys category, Mark racked
up medals all weekend long. Burns came home with 4 Gold and 2
Silver Medals, and along with Kelvin Brown and Daniel Wilson, is
moving steadily toward his first Junior Provincial qualifying
standard.
Not to be outdone was 10 year old Emily Vandenberg, who picked
up where she left off in 2009, making Provincial standards for the
first time in the 400FR, 100 FLY and 200FR- while also swimming to
100% best times. Her teammate in the 10&Under category, Aryanna
Fernandes, added to her growing list of Provincial times with a new
cut in the 100m Freestyle.
"Veteran" Ryan Kelly continued his rapid rise through the
National Rankings, with new Junior Provincial qualifying times in
the 100 FLY, 200FLY, 400IM and 200IM. Kelly and teammate Steven
Taylor are also closing in on the SNC Age Group Championship
standard in the 200 Butterfly. The cut is for 13 year old Males,
while both Kelly and Taylor have only just turned 12. 11 year old
Alex Gilchrist also notched another Provincial qualifying time in
the 100m Butterfly, as well as medalling in 100% of his swims.
Special Congratulations are also extended to Matthew Harris and
Matthew Cummings for hitting their first Regional qualifying
standards of the season.
