Although it was mostly AAC's
senior-most athletes that made up the contigent that travelled to
Guelph for this year's meet, two youngsters emerged as the team's
standouts. Cassidy Blackwin, 12, swam to her first SNC Age Group
Championship qualifying time in the 1500FR, with a time of
19:47.78. Alexander Gichrist, 11, made his first Junior Provincial
qualifying swim of the season in the 200m Freestyle, dropping 10
seconds from his previous best. Gilchrist is also closing in on the
Provincial cut for 12 year old boys in the 200m Butterfly after
posting a 3:01 in his first ever attempt at the event.
AAC's National, Junior National
and Senior Squad members attended the meet to get in as many extra
racing opportunities as possible before the Christmas Break,
appearing in Finals several times per session and putting in tough
swims under the circumstances. A summary of their performances
follows below.
