This month, Swimming Canada announced the
Youth and Junior ID teams for the 2009-2010 season.
These selections are based on last
season’s performances, and give athletes access to training
camps hosted around the country by Canada’s National team
Coaches and Staff.
14 year old Robert Gilchrist, named to the
Short Course Prospects Team in the sprint Freestyle category,
will spend one week in Etobicoke leading up to Canada Cup. The 3
day training camp will lead into the swim meet, which is typically
one of the fastest in North America before the Christmas break each
season. Robert will compete on the Swimming Canada Prospects team
throughout the meet.
16 year old Devin Ste.Marie will travel to
Montreal for one week as a member of the Junior ID team in the
Butterfly category. The camp will be lead by Claude Lamy, coach of
Olympic Finalist Audrey Lacroix.
Finally, 17 year old Zach Fedak will travel
to Vancouver B.C. as a member of the Junior ID team in the sprint
Freestyle and Sprint Butterfly category. The week long camp will
lead by Tom Johnson, coach of World Champion Brent
Hayden.
AAC Head Coach Matt Bell will also be sent
to each of these camps by Swimming Canada.
Congratulations Athletes!
